In order to maximize our ability to provide service to our region, the Center co-sponsors two different conferences each year on crime and built environment issues.  These conferences, while aimed at different groups, seek to provide discussion, education and training on issues important to both the law enforcement and planning and design communities.

  • Kentucky Crime Analysis Association and Meeting:  CABE co-sponsors the annual Kentucky Crime Analysis Association meeting in coordination with the Lexington Police Department.  Building off the success of the original joint conference between EKU and the Lexington Police Department in 2008, this conference helps provide training, continuing education and networking for crime analysts around the state of Kentucky.
  • Annual Urban Issues Conference:  CABE co-sponsors an annual one-day meeting for planners, architects, Housing Authorities, police, and others who deal with urban issues to discuss topical issues related to crime and the built environment.  The inaugural conference, to be held in November 2009 and co-sponsored by the University of Kentucky College of Design and Lexington Police Department, will provide a discussion of Sustainable Communities.
